Playing small.
This had been a recurring theme in my life. The desire to stay out of the limelight, to make myself small and unnoticeable has, in the past, been a priority for me. I learned early on to put my needs second and not rock the boat. And to never share my hopes and dreams. For in my mind at least, any dreams that I had would surely turn to grief and sorrow anyway and then others would see that I failed.
Stay small and I won’t get hurt.
Play small and I won’t be judged.
Stay small and I won’t have to show up in my truth and light.
It’s scary.
Scary to be seen in a world that feels to me like it’s always looking to point out my flaws and shortcomings. It’s frightening to risk this tender heart that just wants to feel safe at all costs.
So many of us stay silent, hiding behind our cloaks of invisibility (this is real by the way, I can make myself energetically disappear in an instant). We stay small and play small because it’s what we’ve been taught. It’s what has made and often makes those around us feel most comfortable and allows us to feel safe.
The Universe is nudging me more and more into the light.
The intuitive messages I’ve been receiving lately have been challenging whatever remnants of this old story that I’m still carrying around with me. These messages aren’t just for me. Because right now, the world needs all of us to shine our light, to find our way to a vibration that lifts us up and as a result lifts others as well.
There is no time left for “small.”
Finding our way to a higher vibration does not imply that we spiritually by-pass our experiences. In fact, it speaks to true soul awareness. When we can look at our current vibrational alignment as if it were a pin on our proverbial life map, we see the spaces and places where we are still holding onto lower vibrational thoughts and beliefs. It is from that point, we can align and shift.
From there we can heal.
And from there we can stop playing small.
Can you feel it?
Can you feel that longing in your heart for more truth and unapologetic authenticity in your life? Even when it’s scary, the pull of our soul’s desires can feel almost unbearable. As a result, it forces us to take notice.
Though we may interpret this feeling in many different ways, often longing is something we judge. It’s many times associated with the ego and what our ego wants. If we are not careful, we may find ourselves assuming that any longing is a “bad” thing.
It’s not that clear cut.
What if the longing is your soul’s own voice whispering to you that it’s time to make a change, step up to your calling and be more YOU than ever before. Can we be our best self if we are hiding behind stories, beliefs or even social constructs? (which are in place to keep us small y’all!)
I know that I cannot.
I know that every time I stop short of speaking my truth, fearing that I’m taking up too much space in the world or when I’m not asking for what I need, not only am I playing small on a personal level but on a consciousness level as well.
It’s time for all of us to move towards this shift. We deserve to live in our full potential, we have the right to be here in our fullness. AND the world needs more light right now – urgently!
Don’t you know I’m talking about a revolution?
Are you ready to join me?
What is one thing you can do right now to start exploring the possibilities that there are places in your life where you are still playing small? No judgment! I have my wounding too!
